Everybody likes a good "after" photo.

My last post was of the little house at 900 N Church that we were working on on our street. This was such a fun house to do! A lot of work, but also an exciting level of work that produced noticeable change in our neighborhood.

When we finished this project, I was so excited to get it online. We had received so much praise and compliments for our work on this house and on our street in general that I couldn't wait to hear everyone's positive feedback. A cool downtown house, fully remodeled from the dump that it was for under $250k- this is going to be fun!

Then we listed it.
Although we don't have Facebook, the photo of our listing ended up making its way to Facebook and that is when the fun really began. Although there were a lot of positive comments from people in the community, investors, real estate professionals and downtown dwellers alike, there was also a flood of negativity. (Which reminded me why I don't "Facebook" anymore) People were calling us names (even though they didn't know who "we" were), people were saying hateful things about the house and that it "looked better before". Literally over 100 comments. I'm not going to sugar coat it- it really hurt my feelings. It made me question what we are doing and the mission we are trying to accomplish downtown. But I didn't stay there, in that negativity. Instead, I decided to read the comments from the people who had positive things to say- the people who were educated in the real estate industry and had true appreciation for the hard work and sacrifice that we make to accomplish this mission. Of course we make money doing this, but we could make money doing a million other things. This is what we love. We love our downtown and we love to see these homes revived.

Shortly after I got over myself and decided to forget about all the sassy comments, we got a cash offer on this house from some folks who loved it and were extremely complimentary of the work. I look at these pictures today, compared to the "before" pictures from my previous post and I just laugh at the nay-sayers.

Without further ado, here are the after shots.

<Soon I will have photos of another one we just finished and some news about a new adventure!>

Cheers, friends!

Can You Escape?

As many of you know, we have quickly become an Escape Game family.

What started as a crazy idea on a legal pad in Three Brother Brewery has turned into a crazy-fun family owned and operated business that we are so proud of. This crazy beginning has now expanded into another location. We have officially opened our doors in the heart of downtown Music City, USA- Nashville, TN. The Escape Experience Nashville is located at 501 Union in downtown Nashville.

People often ask what an escape experience is. An escape experience is an interactive group activity in a real world scenario that forces you to think outside of the box, work together and communicate in order to escape. All types of groups enjoy the escape experience. We see couples looking for a different type of "date night", families, corporate groups, friends, church groups and all kinds of genres of people. Although we recommend children to be around 12-14 years old to participate, the escape experience is for people of all ages. Young and young at heart alike, everyone seems to enjoy the thrill!

"I am so excited for our expansion to Music City. Nashville is not only home, but is a thriving and growing city," says Escape Experience Nashville manager and my talented brother-in-law, Spencer Rowland. "We believe that The Escape Experience Nashville provides a unique and true-to-life experience that separates us from other escape companies. We are excited to offer our current scenarios to Nashville and hope to open some brand new scenarios as well."

This Escape location offers the "C- Block" scenario and will soon offer "The Inheritance" as well.
C Block is a real-life prison scenario in which participants are locked into the scenario with one hour to escape with clues left from "someone on the inside" or they risk being locked in forever.

Don' take our word for it. Check it out yourself or listen to what some other participants have said:

"My Friends and I tour with a musician as part of the crew and have had the opportunity to do Escape rooms world wide and this one was actually the most creative and challenging one to date... "

"This is the most fun thing I have ever done in Nashville and I have been living here for over 8 years."
