Kitchen Remodel Progress

After many days of stressful anticipation, we came home tonight to the freshly painted cabinets. As you will recall from my previous post , we had a pickled color cabinet in our kitchen and 3 bathrooms. It was semi-cute, but kind of odd...so, we decided to have them all painted white! Here is the before picture one last time:

Drumroll.....(all I can picture here is Clark Griswold on Christmas Vacation as he mumbles his lips and makes crazy noises) Here is the freshly painted cabinets:

I'm in love. My mom recently had her kitchen completely remodeled and when it was finished she said, "I think Ill bring a sleeping bag into the kitchen and sleep there because I can't stop looking at it." This is sorta how I feel right now. :) BUT... Its not done yet- we have the tile backsplash coming any day now! I can't wait to have it allllll done!

Here is a progress picture of the master bathroom also:

(The bathroom looks like a pukey turd color in this picture. I assure you its not..must be bad lighting.)

So, I know you are thinking "Yikes, she has gone a little coo-coo with all the white...white floors, cabinets and counters?!?!" Dont worry... we are having the floors replaced in a couple of weeks. Although in this picture the floors may look like a semi-cool subway tile look...in real life its not too cool at all. Its very cracked up and shows every speck of dirt. Being the clean /massive hair shedder I am, this does not work.(any tips on how to make the stop shedding would be great.) So, the new floors will be a tan mushroom tile seen here: (Its the one on the far left.)

On another note...I have a great auction find I got this weekend. I have been searching for some neat old shutters to put on the mantle and finally found the perfect set last weekend at an antique mall. I anxiously went to the counter to pay for them. It was too good to be true. They were perfect! I was soooo excited. When I got to the counter the lady said , "NFS. Not for sale." I could have puked. My dreams were crushed! Not really, but I still wanted some shutters.  I am not giving up!!

For those of you who don't know , I work auctions on the weekend. This past Saturday was a cute little farm house out in Lasscassas. I looked over everything, but didn't see anything I couldn't live without, so I went on to doing my job. At the end of the auction I had to go into the backyard to get something when what to my wondering eyes did appear but two gorgeous shutters and eight tiny reindeer! Okay, no reindeer, but seriously...shutter! There were beams of light coming from heaven shining upon the shutters that were meant to be in my house! Then some mean ole man jumps in front of me and says he wants them!?!?!?!? wha?!?!?! Luckily there were more than two and since I work for the auction company I pulled a few strings/demanded Keith sell me two shutters and not the old man and the deal was done. $2.50!!! Yes, you heard me! That's one fourth of an Alexander Hamilton! They seem so happy perched up on my mantle. :) :) :)

I'm so excited for these cool new changes in the Rowland Casa and can't wait for the tile man to finish us up. :)
